Melted Crayon Art

There are several examples of melted crayon art all over the internet. I looked at several examples and then tried to make my own art.

I used an 8×11 canvas

hair dryer

Something to hold the canvas up( I used a traffic cone in the backyard)

crayons

painters tape or artist tape

I started out by following the instructions from this pin: here

Melting crayons and getting their drips to go where you want them to go on the canvas is harder than it looks.

At first I had tried to make something like a vase of flowers. Here is how that turned out:

I had wanted the vase section to be blue, so I got some blue crayons. I taped them to a traffic cone outside and used the hairdryer to melt them onto the canvas. Then I took the canvas inside. Inside I took a candle and held the green crayon over the flame until it was almost ready to drip. Then I quickly let the drip fall onto the places I wanted the stems to be. You can see this in the picture above. It is the green dots.

I hated the result!

So then I got the lighter and the same canvas and started letting each individual crayon drip onto the canvas.

It ended up looking really cool and having an awesome texture. So I ended up with a completely different version of melted crayon art.
