Origami and other paper folding techniques have always given me trouble. I was surfing through Pinterest and saw an origami butterfly that I wanted to try. Well, my first try was far from perfect! I must have not created the folds correctly or as precise as they needed to be. Here is the result:
The top wings are misshapen, and one is too long. Even with this transgression I did not give up.
This time I carefully looked at the instructions and took my time with the folds.
This one came out much better. If you would like to see the tutorial that I used just click this link …..butterfly origami.
I have just posted some new stuff into my Etsy shop.
Here is the tiny cat Jesse:
Here is the alien Goob. He is glow it the dark. I used glow in the dark clay and I wasn’t sure if it would work or not. But it does, as long as you hold it under the light long enough.
I also made a Tic Tac Toe game:
Then there is the adorable piggy, Percy:
So check them out when you get the time.
Today I have created a bird nesting ball. I found this craft on Pinterest and I based it off of the nesting balls described on Beneath the Rowan Tree.
First I went through my crafting supplies and looked for some scraps.
I was able to find:
- different kinds of string
- scraps of paper
- and I had just brushed my cat, so lots of cat hair
I didn’t really have any wire, so I twisted 4 pipe cleaners into a beach ball shape.
Then I stuffed the items I had found into the middle of the pipe cleaners. Then I used ribbon to tie the finished product outside.
I hope it is strong enough for the birds to move it around without the ball falling! 🙂
I would like to talk about one of my favorite sites today: Pinterest.com.
You need an invite in order to become a member of this site, but most people will invite you. You can connect to pinterest from facebook or twitter and then pinterest will post your pins for you if you want them to. (I don’t usually like it when sites do this for me, but I’m okay with pinterest doing it.) Pinterest seems to largely have a women’s following, but men can join too. This article talks about the statistics for women and men and pinterest. I am studying to become an elementary school teacher and really love that there are so many pins and boards dedicated to education and educational tools.
There are also pins that send you to sites with awesome educational printouts as well!
My favorite category in pinterest is the animal category. Just looking at all the cute animals will brighten your day.
I also use Pinterest to advirtise the items in my etsy shop. That way more people will see them or be linked to my shop. If the item has been sold then they could just contact me and I could make them a similar item if they want.
