Melted Crayon Art

There are several examples of melted crayon art all over the internet. I looked at several examples and then tried to make my own art.

I used an 8×11 canvas

hair dryer

Something to hold the canvas up( I used a traffic cone in the backyard)

crayons

painters tape or artist tape

I started out by following the instructions from this pin: here

Melting crayons and getting their drips to go where you want them to go on the canvas is harder than it looks.

At first I had tried to make something like a vase of flowers. Here is how that turned out:

I had wanted the vase section to be blue, so I got some blue crayons. I taped them to a traffic cone outside and used the hairdryer to melt them onto the canvas. Then I took the canvas inside. Inside I took a candle and held the green crayon over the flame until it was almost ready to drip. Then I quickly let the drip fall onto the places I wanted the stems to be. You can see this in the picture above. It is the green dots.

I hated the result!

So then I got the lighter and the same canvas and started letting each individual crayon drip onto the canvas.

It ended up looking really cool and having an awesome texture. So I ended up with a completely different version of melted crayon art.

A Collection of Ideas, And So Much More

I would like to talk about one of my favorite sites today: Pinterest.com.

You need an invite in order to become a member of this site, but most people will invite you. You can connect to pinterestĀ from facebookĀ or twitter and then pinterestĀ will post your pins for you if you want them to. (I don’t usually like it when sites do this for me, but I’m okay with pinterest doing it.) Pinterest seems to largely have a women’s following, but men can join too. This article talks aboutĀ theĀ statistics for women and men andĀ pinterest. Ā I am studying to become an elementary school teacher and really love that there are so many pins and boards dedicated to education and educational tools.

There are also pins that send you to sites with awesome educational printouts as well!

I also use Pinterest to advirtise the items in my etsy shop. That way more people will see them or be linked to my shop. If the item has been sold then they could just contact me and I could make them a similar item if they want.
